Justin Fedor (Fee-door)
Genre – americana singer/songwriter
NC’s Justin Fedor has been writing and singing songs, traveling the US with Alt-Country Rockers, The New Familiars, for nearly a decade. The band’s founding member, he’s worn many hats both as a songwriter and also as a multi-instrumentalist; playing guitar, mandolin, and most of the banjo in the studio. A lover of music, his songs dangle between Appalachian roots and outlaw country with a tinge of psychedelia, while his “smooth and driven by emotion” (Creative Loafing) vocals carry the grit that only growing up southern can teach. In one form or another over the years whether with The New Familiars, playing solo, or joining longtime friend and traveling troubadour, Ian Thomas; he’s shared the bill with legends including Gregg Allman, Levon Helm, Taj Mahal, Del McCoury and more. In recent years he’s devoted much of his time to organizing the “Tribute to Benefit Levine Children’s Hospital”, a concert series at Charlotte’s Neighborhood Theatre that raises thousands of dollars for the hospital. He’s also begun touring as bass player for psychedelic rockers, Ancient Cities who have been featured at many of the region’s top festivals as well as on TBS’s “Cougar Town” starring Courteney Cox. Currently he is working on his solo album, produced by bandmate, Stephen Warwick.
